Overview

What evaluative lessons can be drawn from the ILO’s past response to an economic and financial crisis?

The crisis that the COVID-19 pandemic poses threatens the health and livelihoods of millions of people and is having major economic and employment repercussions worldwide. The ILO has been called upon to provide impact-proven measures in an efficient manner that can help mitigate and overcome its long-term and negative consequences for both workers and enterprises. The current crisis strengthens ILO’s call for a reinvigorated Decent Work Agenda as a means to alleviate the devastating socio-economic impact felt worldwide. This i-eval IN-FOCUS issue looks at lessons that can be drawn from ILO’s response to the 2007-08 global economic and financial crisis and its impact on the world of work.
